Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started helping with the morning prep. I then moved up and I am now able to work all of the kitchen stations. My favorite is the grill.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A: I love my job and the work environment.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: The team celebrated my birthday by getting a cake and singing happy birthday to me.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A:  I love playing soccer.

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A:  I love to garden - I have a green thumb!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 14 years?

A: Everyday is a challenge. I have learned to embrace the challenges and enjoy them as they come. My job keeps me busy and on my toes!

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started as a cashier and transferred to the Chace Lake location when it opened. I began working in catering at Chace Lake and have been doing that ever since.

Fun fact: Kelly has worked with the General Manager of Chace Lake, Hollis, since she was 16 years old.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  Our founder, Keith. I love him.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: I love working with our HOPE employees. I also have great memories of Keith’s parents dressing up as Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause, then visiting the store every year around the holidays. It was the cutest thing ever.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love to spend time with my three kids and my brand new, 7 month old, grandson!

Q: What is something about you that not a lot of people know?

A: I used to be an ice skater. My dad was a professional Hockey player for Detroit and owned ice rinks, so I was always hanging out at ice rinks as a kid. I actually went to the Junior Olympics for ice skating!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 14 years?

A: Everyone has challenges. I always make sure that I remain upbeat and happy, so I can give people the positive energy they may need to make it through the day or the current challenge they are facing.

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started at the salad station. I can now work all stations in the kitchen. I love the fast pace of the kitchen!

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  I love my job.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: There are so many. One that sticks out would have to be my birthday. The General Manager bought me flowers and cake, then everyone sang to me. We had a little party and it was really fun.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I have been married for 27 years, so I enjoy spending time with my family and husband. I also like to salsa dance and go to church. 

Q: What is something about you that not a lot of people know?

A: I am a pretty good singer!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 11 years?

A: It has inspired me to be present at home and at work. I am able to have a balance between both.

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started as a cashier. I then worked my way to the kitchen and on to be an Assistant General Manager.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  I have worked at all of the stores in Atlanta and every single experience has been rewarding. The staff and guests have all been great. I have met a lot of great people that still remain in my life. The connections I have made over the last 10 years have been genuine and the Taziki’s workplace has always felt like a family atmosphere.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: The time I served as the interim General Manager and was able to attend the Taziki’s annual conference in South Georgia. It was so much fun - a truly amazing experience. I really enjoyed meeting the Taziki’s executive team.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I really like to go to the gym. I also enjoy going to any NFL and NBA sporting events. I am an Atlanta fan no matter what sport. 

Q: What is something about you that not a lot of people know?

A: I am a good songwriter. I like to write here and there.

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 10 years?

A: The Taziki’s culture has helped me have a reason to give my best. Connecting with different guests, seeing how satisfied they are, especially when I cooked their food and know they are happy with it, makes my work so rewarding.

Taziki’s Manager of the Month - September 2023

Congratulations to Dalton for being named September Manager of the Month! Dalton is being recognized for taking on a major challenge to train one of his own Assistant General Managers to be a new General Manager - in just a few weeks. Together, they have worked very hard in short amount of time to make the new General Manager’s store a success. Dalton is known to be an incredible leader, but in the last few months has taken his skills up a notch to pave the way for others - true leadership.

“Seeing my regular customers is one of my favorite parts of the job. I have built relationships with so many guests and it brightens my day to see them. I also really enjoy meeting new guests and having the opportunity to know them and turn them into loyal customers. It makes me feel good to know that we can positively impact people’s lives, even if it is just for a few minutes when they come to dine at Taziki’s.”

Dalton has been with Taziki’s since 2019. He appreciates the friendships he has built with other General Managers in Birmingham and with the Restaurant Support Center. These relationships represent his favorite part of the Taziki’s culture. “At Taziki’s it always feels like we are family, no matter where we come from or what title we have. We collaborate and share ideas with each other, and at the end of the day everyone has your back and vice versa.”

LIVING THE GOOD LIFE

Outside of work, Dalton enjoys playing golf and watching Alabama football. He also enjoys racing dirt bikes which started at a young age with his brothers.

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started as the controller, then moved to CFO within a year of being hired.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A: It's been very rewarding to be a part of the growth. Taziki’s had less than 20 units when I started and now we are approaching 100. It's incredible to be a part of that success. I enjoy the hospitality industry and being associated with a brand people know and love feels good. I am proud to tell people where I work.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: Some of the best memories are from our system-wide conferences including the most recent 25th anniversary celebration. Gathering together creates great memories and I especially enjoy visiting with our franchisees at these events.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A:  Spending time with family. I enjoy coaching my kids sports.

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A:  Often, people only see me as the serious finance guy, but I really love to laugh and enjoy a good sense of humor.

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 11 years?

A: I think in my area of finance and compliance, we naturally focus on details. Details are a component of our Taziki’s Culture Compass, so it is inspiring to know your efforts contribute to a key value of the company. The Taziki’s mission statement and culture compass both serve as inspiration and reminders that we are all one team and are here to support all of our Taziki’s locations.

A: I started at the Salad station and have since worked at the Rollups and Expo station.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  I love the work environment and the work pace.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: I remember when COVID hit, my husband and I got laid off, but the company still paid us both for those few weeks that we couldn't work.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love to take long walks and enjoy the beautiful views.

Q: What is something about you that not a lot of people know?

A: I love baking!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 12 years?

A: Details. For me, it is very important that every plate goes out looking and tasting its very best.

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started at the Salad station, then moved to Roll Ups and Grill.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  I like what I do. I like my job and the environment at Taziki’s.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: One day, there was no one to take food out to the guests. We were very short staffed. So, we, the kitchen staff, took turns running food. One of my coworkers accidentally spilled a drink, but the customers were so understanding! They were far from being mad and realized that we were in a new role, helping out in a pinch. We have the best guests. I also really enjoy Taziki’s holiday parties.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: At this age I do not have any favorites - ha, ha! It’s the simple things that make me happy like just relaxing at the end of the day. I like to travel sometimes and I love sightseeing. I enjoy the mountains and countrysides, really anything nature related. 

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 13 years?

A: I like my bosses and the challenges they give me. I love the challenge of prepping catering orders. I make sure all the details have been addressed and help my team ensure that everything is perfect.

Taziki’s Manager of the Month - August 2023

Teaira is being named our August manager of the month! Her supervisor boasts that she has done an exceptional job hitting all her goals this year and has worked to build an amazing team. She continues to develop into a great leader for the Atlanta market and never turns down opportunities to continue learning. She has worked hard to get to know her guests and has been a pioneer in the Atlanta market on so many levels. We are proud to have Teaira on our growing Atlanta team!

Day to day in Atlanta

Tearia’s favorite part of her job is helping others whether it be a guest or team member. Her team knows she stands ready to assist.

This year will mark Teaira’s 10th year with Taziki’s! She loves that the Taziki’s culture is different from other restaurants. She believes if you go anywhere else, you’ll see the difference in how guests and team members are treated. At Taziki’s you’re like family, and Teaira appreciates that. She also appreciates that Taziki’s is always asking team members for feedback and ideas on how to improve.

LIVING THE GOOD LIFE

Outside of work, Tearia enjoys hanging out with her friends and family. She loves going on walking trails - you know, the ones almost like hiking trails, but not the hard ones - haha! A self proclaimed shower-singer, Tearia loves to do karaoke and said her favorite artist to cover is Fantasia. Although she doesn’t think she is a very good singer, her mom sure does!

We are so happy to have had Tearia on our team for the last 10 years and we can not wait to see what the next 10 years hold.

We’re celebrating a June anniversary with a little Q and A!

Meet one of our best that has been with Taziki’s for over 10 years!

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started as a Shift Leader at the Liberty Park Location. I then moved to Virginia as a Shift Leader and worked my way up to General Manager/Operating Partner in Virginia. After that, I went on to become a Multi-Unit Manager in Atlanta. I really wanted be closer to home, so I moved back to Virginia as a Multi-Unit Manager and am now the Local Owner/ Operator in Holly Springs, NC (close enough to home - ha).

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A: The people I work with and the opportunity for mentorship across multiple brands.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: Oh Gosh...The opening of the Innsbrook location - the grand opening in 2013. That is a memory I don’t think I will ever forget. It was my first time hiring and building out my own restaurant. I am proud to say that we still have a lot of the same people working there today. At the time Taziki’s was such a small concept and it has been so cool to see the brand and all our people grow.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A:  Fly remote control helicopters with my kids!

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A:  I was a state wrestling champion in High School.

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 10 years?

A: “Live the Good Life” was such an inspiring and grounding phrase that Taziki’s embraced early on. We all took it to heart and ran with it right away. It really inspired me to start changing some of my lifestyle choices and habits. It caused me to slow down, get married, have kids and just enjoy my life. I think this approach goes hand in hand with who I am. Talking to people, listening, and creating connections with people is what the “Good Life” is all about. I am lucky to have the opportunity to create and grow relationships with our staff and guests everyday.

We’re celebrating anniversaries in May with a little Q and A!

Meet three wonderful employees that have been with Taziki’s for 10+ years!

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started as a Cashier in Charleston, South Carolina. I worked my way up to an Assistant General Manager and then to General Manager. From there, I was offered an ownership opportunity with my husband, Els, who has also been with Taziki’s for 10 years. We are now the proud Owner/ Operators of the new Jackson, TN location!

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A: First of all I love the healthy, fresh food and I love the culture. I had enjoyed Taziki’s as a guest before I ever worked here. The Taziki’s was right up the street when I was in college, so I always walked up there. No matter what Taziki's I work in, the culture is always amazing and the people are great. I also love the flexibility. As I have grown with the company, I have enjoyed watching the innovation evolve. Taziki’s is great at reviewing different processes and finding ways to make life easier while staying true to company values. I love that Taziki’s does not judge people based on their backgrounds or race, or age. The company embraces change and every employee for who they are and the work they perform.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: Since I've worked at Taziki's for so long, it's hard to pick my best memory. There have been so many fun staff parties over the years and customers who made lasting impressions on me through thoughtful gifts and conversations. One of my favorite memories was Second Sundays. These were during my early days at Taziki’s on King Street in downtown Charleston. On the second Sunday of every month, the street would close down to cars and there would be a flood of people all over the street enjoying music, food, and shopping. At Taziki’s we set up a grill and table outside the restaurant on the street and served guests outside!  We would be so busy on these days, and it was the best! It was also the first time I felt like I was part of more than a job. I was part of a family. Despite it being the busiest day of the month, the day we worked the hardest, we had so much fun!

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A:  I like to go to the gym. I also like doing anything outdoors. I like to stay busy. I also enjoy traveling. 

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A:  I studied abroad in Iceland. I did a “Maymester” there going into my senior year of college. It was the coolest place I have ever been. I was studying Hospitality Management, so the whole course was us exploring tourism in the country. We traveled by van from city to city staying in hostels, cabins, hotels and going on crazy adventures like white water rafting, ATVing, cliff jumping, and glacier hiking. We completely immersed ourselves in the Icelandic culture and tried all kinds of different foods. We also saw more waterfalls than I ever could have imagined. It was an experience I will never forget!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 10 years?

A: I think the mission and the culture really come together, so that they both represent what we go through in a day. We say “Live the Good Life” and I really try to embrace that at work. Even though it’s work, we try not to make it feel like work. We know it can be challenging and stressful, but we make it a fun challenge. There is nothing better than being busy and serving all of the people, then seeing them happy and hearing their positive feedback. When you see the values and the work you do all come together it’s such a sense of fulfillment.

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I was hired as an Assistant General Manager for Cool Springs which was the first location in Nashville. The Nashville area kept growing and adding locations, and I eventually became the General Manager at West End. After a couple years of being the General Manager there, I was offered ownership, so of course I accepted! I am now the Owner/ Operator of the West End location in Nashville.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  Really, I enjoy my job. I love my crew and I love my customers.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: I threw our team member, Joaquin, a surprise 20 year anniversary party. His best friend helped me and he invited all of his family from states away. Keith and Amy (the Taziki’s founder and his wife) showed up and it was just so great. Joaquin had no idea and it was so much fun. It meant a lot for me to be able to do that for him.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I like to swim when the weather permits. I like to do some crafting when the weather does not permit.

Q: What is something about you that not a lot of people know?

A: I am a very good joke teller!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 12 years?

A: I would say the Taziki's mission as it has been my mission, too. Giving really good customer service and connecting with people has always been my approach. I think they stole my idea! Haha!

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started in the kitchen on one station. I can now work at all kitchen stations and create all of our fresh food!

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  I like the atmosphere and the food. I also love the morning prep. I like that it is not regular fast food and that we get the privilege to prepare the food fresh each day. I just really love being here.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: When I started, David was just my supervisor and now he is like my brother. I looked up to him and soon we had a family relationship, like brother and sister. I had never felt anything like that from a job, so it has really stuck with me all these years.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Taziki’s Manager of the Month - May 2023

Joey is being recognized by his manager, David, for embracing the challenge of leading a team through the opening of a new store. David says Joey is dedicated to completing tasks and setting expectations with details in mind, ensuring that the Taziki’s way is followed every time. Joey has also been influential company-wide in creating a “Ziki Card” recognition program that celebrates the victories of team members.

Joey says his favorite part of the job is building a team and seeing everyone grow. He enjoys watching the process from the start and seeing improvements that happen in the simplest day to day moments. Another favorite thing about his job is getting to know the guests in Holly Springs. He enjoys building connections with the community and creating a space for everyone to enjoy a meal and just have a great time.

“My favorite part of the Taziki’s culture has got to be the connection, if you can’t tell. I have a saying that we either win or we learn, but we never lose. And I feel that same way about connecting with the community, it is never a loss when we are engaging with others and creating connections. The Taziki’s culture is a huge part of my life and the team here in Holly Springs.” - Joey

Joey has been with Taziki’s for 11 months. We are so excited to celebrate his one year anniversary in June!

LIVING THE GOOD LIFE

Outside of work, Joey enjoys hanging out with his family. His wife and children keep him pretty busy with the oldest two participating in their high school band and the youngest playing baseball. Joey also coaches his youngest son’s baseball team. He loves being present in their daily lives.

We asked Joey to tell us something about himself that not a lot of people know. He shared that during COVID, when times were really scary for everyone, he began a group chat with his family. Every morning he would send a song in the chat for the family to listen to as a comfort during those trying times. He made sure the songs were ones they all loved and enjoyed. He always included a story about the song to explain its importance to their family. They have kept this tradition going ever since! Joey loves those few moments of family time each morning with his parents and siblings.

We’re celebrating anniversaries in April at Taziki’s with a little Q and A!

Meet six fabulous employees that have been with Taziki’s for 10+ years!

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I began as a designer, but did a lot of work helping with marketing. We only had 23 stores at that time, so I also dabbled in vendor relations and really anything I could do to help grow the brand.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A: I have a passion for the brand overall. I love Keith and what he stands for. He is such a great guy and my drive to see the brand grow comes from that. It is really nice to be proud of where you work.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: The first two years I worked here, we did a collegiate marketing challenge where students from areas we had stores in would compete on who could market Taziki’s the best. We would then invite the top few teams to come to Birmingham and present their work in person to our CEO. It was so cool and lots of fun to get to interact with the students. I also really love the work we have done with the HOPE Program as well as the volunteer work we do with The Exceptional Foundation in Birmingham.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love spending time with my family. I also love to play music on the side. Fun fact- Keith and I are in the same band. .

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A:  I have been playing the guitar and bass since I was a teenager. If you put me on any stage with an instrument I will enjoy playing and singing to the crowds all night long, but the moment you want me to speak on a stage, well that’s another story.

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 10 years?

A: It goes back to what I said about believing in Keith and the brand. When I see the effect the employees have on him and how Taziki’s has grown out of his spirit of thankfulness, it keeps me going. I also get really inspired when I hear the story of Taziki’s and I like to think that I am aligned with its brand values. It is important to me to surround myself with people who want to inspire others through their work.

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I started as a cook. I then worked my way to a cashier, then shift leader, then on to an Assistant General Manager.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A:  It is definitely the people. There are a lot of people who have been here for a long time. We work as a team and we really enjoy working with each other.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: Two years ago, my dad passed away and the entire Taziki’s family really surrounded me and helped me get through that rough time in my life. I will forever be grateful for that.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love to hang out with my family and friends! A lot of my friends are my coworkers so it is a lot of fun to get our families together sometimes and all have a good time.

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 10 years?

A: The passion for people and showing that we care is definitely part of my inspiration each day. Everyone that works here has a passion for people and it shows. I love helping others and teaching others the things that I have learned. I also think it is important to show others that I started as an hourly employee, but have worked my way up, so anything is possible with Taziki’s!

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I began as a morning prep person, but now I am fully in the kitchen and can work all kitchen stations.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: I do not have one specific memory, all of my time here has been amazing!

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love fishing and hiking. The biggest fish I have ever caught was a bass that was right around 7 lbs!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 12 years?

A: That is a good question. I really enjoy embracing challenges and I love to prioritize the details. Those things really matter when creating those perfect plates for our guests. 

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I began as an AGM at one of our Birmingham locations. I then went on to become the company’s first ever Local Store Marketer. After that I went on to become the Director of Marketing and Catering and now I am the Director of Administration and HR.

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A: I feel like it is a family. Taziki’s is my second family. I love being a part of the growth and expansion and the direction that the brand is going. I love meeting all of the new members of the family and welcoming them with open arms.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: Keith, the founder of Taziki’s, and his band played at my wedding. (So cool!) 

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love to read! My favorite author is Janet Evanovich.

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A: I love to scuba dive! My favorite place is Belize. It was so beautiful.

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 15 years?

A: The Taziki’s 3 C’s - Collaboration, Connection and Challenge - have been stuck to me and my time here at Taziki’s more than anything. I love collaborating with coworkers and taking on new challenges. When doing that, I get to connect with other departments and create strong bonds with a lot of these people. It has truly been so great.

Q: What position did you begin with at Taziki’s?

A: I began in the kitchen on salads, but I now know all kitchen stations and enjoy working them all!

A: I love the team that I work with and the management! All of them are incredible and I love working with them each day.

Q: What is your best memory about working here?

A: Two years ago, my house was hit by a tornado. Keith and the entire Taziki’s family rallied around my family and I to help us rebuild. 

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love spending time with my family!

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A: I used to work in construction- what a change! Haha!

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 10 years?

A: I have always loved paying attention to details, so that has really played a part in my work over the years. I believe that bringing our guests the best food we possibly can begins with the details we put into it from start to finish.

A: I started in the kitchen on the roll-ups station, but now know all kitchen stations!

Q: What has motivated you to gain tenure here at Taziki’s?

A: I absolutely love the work that I do and the people that I do it with!

A: Our HOPE employees! They make me smile everyday!

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

A: I love spending time with my kids and my husband.

Q: What is one thing that maybe not a lot of people know about you?

A: My daughters are both in karate! 

Q: How has the Taziki’s culture inspired your work over the last 10 years?

A: I love paying attention to the details. I believe that even the smallest things matter. I always want the plates to go to the guests looking just like the photos they have seen.

Taziki’s Manager of the Month - April 2023

Jack is being recognized by his supervisor, Joe, for hitting his store’s sales goals, getting the highest internal audit score in the Atlanta market, and for receiving a 100 on his health department score!

Way To Go, jack!

Jack says it is an honor and a privilege to be recognized as manager of the month, but insists it is not an individual achievement. It is one to be shared with the whole team that he works side by side with everyday. Without them, Jack would not be able to achieve his goals, so he happily shares this recognition with his entire team.

day to day in atlanta

After being in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, working at Taziki’s in Atlanta is Jack’s favorite job so far. He loves that his team is always smiling and laughing with each other every day and that they check in on each other, like family. The team even has holiday parties together with their families which helps foster a tight team bond.

“It starts with the leadership, with our supervisor, Joe, and his connection. He cares about us and actually shows us that he cares with his actions”. - Jack

Jack believes that without such strong leadership he would not be able to achieve his goals.

The Taziki’s culture is unlike any other, and Jack appreciates that, especially the “connection” piece of the Taziki’s culture, his personal favorite. Everyone in the Atlanta market, not just Jack’s store, is very connected. He appreciates that his work family in Atlanta cares about his wife and children just as much as he cares for theirs.

Jack hits his two year anniversary with Taziki’s in May, and is excited for many more to come!

LIVING THE GOOD LIFE

Outside of work, Jack enjoys spending time with his growing family. As a husband and father to 4 boys, he stays very busy. He and his wife are also expecting a baby girl in May. Congratulations! His family enjoys many outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, kayaking, and playing sports with the kids.

A little known fact about Jack is that he writes poetry and once had a poem published in The American Poet Society. One of his favorite quotes is “the greatest thing you will ever learn is to love and be loved in return”.

Jack, thanks for all of your hard work.

March brought many work anniversaries here at Taziki’s.

We are happy to introduce you to five employees that have been with Taziki’s for 10+ years!

Maria Aguilar

March 2nd marked 11 years at Taziki’s for Maria!

Maria works at our Lee Branch location in Birmingham as a cashier. Maria began working at Taziki’s part time because she needed the extra money, but soon found out it was more fun than she expected. She enjoys the flexible schedule which allows her to balance her home and work life.

Maria’s favorite memory of working at Tazikis is when she first started.

“Seeing that teamwork for the first time was just amazing to me. We still have that teamwork today, but seeing it in action on day one really stuck with me.” - Maria

Outside of work, Maria loves to spend time with her four children whose ages range up to 22 years old. Super mom!

Maria says the Taziki’s culture inspires her work because she really appreciates our fresh food and “stay fresh” approach to everything we do. She is not tired of Taziki’s food one bit, not even after 11 years!

Thanks for the past 11 years Maria! We look forward to continuing this journey with you!

John Wiley

On March 11th John celebrated 14 years with Taziki’s! 

John began his career at Taziki’s as a Manager in Training at our Mountain Brook location in Birmingham. He was promoted to Assistant General Manager, then General Manager at our UAB Medical Center location where he worked for five and a half years. In July of 2017, John made the decision to join the Corporate Operations team and has been an Operations Analyst ever since.

One of his favorite memories about working at Taziki’s was in his final week of being a General Manager at our UAB location. Guest after guest came in to wish him off to his next Taziki’s adventure. The Fire Chief of the Birmingham Fire Department even came by with a gift. John says he will never forget that. It is those kinds of connections he will always cherish.

Outside of work John enjoys doing anything related to aviation. He has a love and passion for airplanes. John grew up in Brazil and can speak fluent Portuguese. He was also an allstar soccer player in high school.

We asked John how the Taziki’s mission and culture has inspired his work. He replied, “Connection is the most important piece to me. Getting out there and connecting with people and being able to coach others is what really drives me”.

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to Tazik’s over the last 14 years, John!

Benjamin - Hope Employee

On March 5th, we celebrated Ben’s 12 year anniversary with Taziki’s!

Ben works at our Mountain Brook location in Birmingham doing morning prep work. He has been at the Mountain Brook location for all 12 years!

Ben says he has stayed with Taziki’s this long because he likes his job and all the different people he meets.

Outside of work, Ben loves swimming and enjoys reading the Bible. Ben is proud to say he has read the Bible all the way through!

His his favorite part of Taziki’s is “Taziki's culture of inclusion.” We agree, Ben!

Laura Beth Hernandez

March 18th marked 17 years for Laura Beth!

Laura Beth (LB) began her long career at Taziki’s in 2006 as a cashier at our Lee Branch location in Birmingham. She was promoted to Shift Leader and then to Training General Manager in 2011. In 2012 she moved to the Corporate team and became the Director of Training. Since then she has transitioned to the Accounting Department and is now the Sr. Director of Accounting.

“Its a family here. Taziki’s is a family and I love my work family. Keith and the Richards family are a big part of why Taziki’s is a family. They have really been there for me and my coworkers over the years. It is nice to have had their support for so long.” - LB Hernandez

Laura Beth’s favorite memory of working at Tazikis is when she first started working as a cashier. Keith was working in the kitchen and she was new to the “restaurant lingo”. At many restaurants, when food is ready to go to the table, the kitchen will say “runner”. Instead, Keith said “sell the food”. LB was so confused because as the cashier she WAS selling the food. Keith couldn’t figure out why she wasn't taking the food and then LB realized he was telling her the food was ready to go. He sure seemed to be speaking a different language which thoroughly confused her. Of course, they both look back now and laugh about it!

Outside of work, LB enjoys chasing her children around, going to soccer practice and Sunday school, and just being outside. She loves being a mom! Not a lot of people know, but LB originally studied to be an electrical engineer. Along the way she realized she did not like electrical engineering at all and changed paths.

LB says that the “Prioritize Details” value of the Taziki’s culture has impacted her work over the years. It currently plays a big part in her daily accounting work. LB has always enjoyed that piece of the Taziki’s culture and it has led her to where she is today. 

We are so appreciative of the work that LB has put in over the last 17 years and we can’t wait to see what the next 17 have in store!

On March 26th, James celebrated his 11th anniversary with Taziki’s!

James began his career as a cashier at our West End location in Nashville. Since then, he has worked his way up to General Manager and is now on the Corporate team as an Operations Analyst.

James has stayed with Taziki’s so long because of the company’s leadership. That strong leadership has been very important in his life. At one point, Taziki’s was the only stable thing in Jame’s world and it really kept him going. He sees the value in his role, and in every role he has had with the company. He hasn’t reached the ceiling yet and is excited that there is plenty of room to grow.

“Our mission statement is a philosophy that can be applied to so many things. Learning that I can use these principles outside of work has helped me grow in my life. They help all employees develop into more full human beings.”

His best memory of working at Taziki’s is when he was leaving the General Manager position in Nashville to begin working on the Corporate team. Customers brought gift cards, gifts, and showed him lots of love that week. He even cried with a few guests as they talked about all the fun times they had shared. Those connections with guests are what make him smile the most.

When he isn’t working, James loves to kyak, especially racing at the Narrows of the Harpeth River. He also loves music and says not a lot of people know that he got signed to a record label at the age of 18. Wow, so talented!

James, we thank you for all you have done over the last 11 years, and we look forward to the next 11 years!

Taziki’s Managers of the Month - March 2023

Here at Taziki’s we love to talk about our amazing employees.

In March, we’re highlighting TWO great managers.

Mason at Lee Branch

Mason is being recognized by his managers because of his store’s improved results over the last few weeks. He has shown dedication not only to the brand, but to his staff which has led to the store’s increased performance.

Mason said it means a great deal to be recognized for just doing his job. As the GM he is the fixer of many things, so it is nice to be recognized for his efforts.

“The restaurant industry can be taxing, but the staff I get to work with and the customers I meet make it all worth it.

I have a servant's heart and I love helping people. If I can take a little stress off of customers, that is what I love to do” - Mason at Lee Branch

Mason has been with Taziki’s for four and a half years and says that the Taziki’s staff is like a big family. This value is instilled from day one.

Two back of house staff members from Lee Branch are married and they invited him to their daughter’s first communion last year. He was honored to attend and realize yet again that the Taziki’s family culture is second to none.

Living the Good Life

Outside of work, Mason enjoys trying new foods and traveling. He has been to Uganda eight times and says it is his favorite place traveled to thus far. On one trip to Uganda, he made a fun bet that led to him getting a Smokey the Bear tattoo - ha!

Mason, thanks for all you have done and continue to do!

Jason - Area Supervisor

Jason is being recognized by his Supervisor, Marc, for hard work over the last few weeks that has led to positive results in many of our store locations. Marc is very appreciative of all of the hard work Jason has put into growing the company.

Jason loves to see the impact he has on people and our stores. He tries to leave every location he works in better than it was when he arrived. He enjoys watching every store staff grow and learn from his contributions.

Jason has been with Taziki’s for almost three years. He began as a General Manager at the Taziki’s Tuscaloosa location and then moved to Birmingham as an Area General Manager. He has been an Area Supervisor for a year and a half now. Jason’s favorite part of the Taziki’s culture is the connections. At Taziki’s we develop our people - and the saying “one team, one dream” describes our culture perfectly.

Living the Good Life

Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time with his children. He enjoys hiking and is planning a second trip to Montana where he’ll hike at Yellowstone. Jason also enjoys riding horses and roping in his free time.

Taziki’s Manager of the Month - February 2023

Rigoberto who goes by Rigo is being recognized by his manager for his professional attitude and willingness to learn all things.

“It means a lot to me to be recognized for my work. I still consider myself to be new to the company compared to others, so it feels great. For you guys to give me the opportunity to learn is very motivating”- Rigoberto on what it means to him to be named February Manager of the Month.

DAY TO DAY AT Nolensville

Rigo’s favorite part of his job is the fact that he has the opportunity to learn the business side of things as well as develop others. He enjoys not only making sure our guests’ food is made fresh and up to Taziki’s standards, but also having the opportunity to grow personally and professionally.

Rigo has been with Taziki’s for two years now and says his favorite part of the Taziki’s culture is the focus on details. He says “Even though I am not as good at the details part as I would like to be sometimes, I like that there is room for growth and that I have a blank canvas each day to try new things and learn”. He also appreciates the opportunities that are available to everyone. 

LIVING THE GOOD LIFE

Rigo and his family moved from Mexico 15 years ago. Outside of work, Rigo likes to read books and spend time with his family. He loves reading science fiction, self-help, and business books.

Rigo wants everyone to know “There is room for everybody to learn and grow. Whatever I can do for other people, I want to be the person to help. I want to help the next generation”.

Rigo, thanks for all of your hard work over the last two years.
